Anzac Day Parade 2009
I watched the Anzac Parade (part of Anzac Day, Australia's annual remembrance of Gallipoli and commemoration of its armed forces) through Sydney this morning and I found it very moving at times. It reminded me of Gramps (in his uniform) and how proud he would have been to be in a parade like this and how he too, like many of the older veterans, would have stopped off and spoken to the clapping crowd as he passed by and created special connections. There were several veterans marching with their grandkids, and that added to the poignancy of the whole event. There are fewer and fewer Word War 2 veterans each year and it feels like the passing of an entire generation. Lest we forget...

Australia Day
We went to watch the ferry races today with Charles and Katrin- and joined in the Australia Day celebrations. Lots of patriotism and waving of flags.
