Apple has started creating it's own chips and they are incredibly powerful in terms of speed and battery life. This felt like the perfect opportunity to upgrade my laptop. With its 64gb of Ram, it's lightning fast. I'm so happy with it. I gave my old Macbook Pro that I bought in 2015 to Chris. He was delighted.

Buying my first Macbook Pro
I'm totally in love with the wonderful 15 inch computer. I'm now totally hooked on Apple. The aesthetics and quality and service are unparalleled. It also talks beautifully with my iPhone. Also, I love the Mac operating system, finding it much more intuitive and pleasing than Windows. I'm so glad I got to learn it by helping Sue with her iMac a couple of years previously.

Helping Sue set up her Apple iMac
Sue decided to get a Mac to replace her old Windows computer and I helped her quite a bit set it up and maintain it. I'm so glad I did as I gradually got to know and like the Apple operating system and this, along with my love for my iPhone, played a big part in my moving to Apple in 2015.

Editing photos with Viveza
I love this amazing software. It allows me to make localised adjustments to parts of the photo to really make parts of it pop or bring out details. It integrates with Lightroom. I like it so much I did a presentation to the Mosman Photography Club on editing photos and included it, along with Lightroom.

Editing photos with Lightroom
Craig introduced me to this amazing software and it has revolutionised by photo management and editing. It is built by photographers for photographers from the ground up and is so much more intuitive than Photoshop.

The joys of using Mindmanager for mind mapping
I completely and utterly love this software. Since I was at school, I have loved mind mapping and Mindmanager makes creating maps so easy. I'm using it all the time for brainstorming and also for managing my life.

My first personal digital assistants (PDA's)
I have always loved technology and gadgets. In the 1990's, long before iPhones, I organised my life with a Psion that I absolutely adored. First with a Psion 3 and then a Psion Revo. The Psion was an invaluable aid at Old Mutual and later, I used it to help organise my trip when I did tour-leading in the Middle East in 2001.
Later, in 2005, when working at Volvo I used a Compaq iPac.

My first laptop
I bought a very portable but expensive laptop when I joined Old Mutual. It allowed me to work on reports when I visited the branches. I didn't use it that much, though, and it was stolen from my desk at work a year or so later.

Getting my first computer (with Windows 3)
I had a Commodore 64 as a child at school but got my first proper computer in 1992 when I was in the final years of my marketing degree at Old Mutual. It was running Windows 3 and it was an instant love affair. I have wonderful memories of doing my final marketing thesis on it.

My first introduction to spreadsheeting at university
My first introduction to spreadsheeting in my first year at university. I seem to remember it was Lotus 123 but I may be wrong. I fell in love with it. Spreadsheets have the capacity to convert chaos to order and I have had a life-long love for them.

My first introduction to a modern personal computer
Gordon Howard, our senior school Biology teacher, had one and gave us some fascinating demos of the power of the device. He really understood early on how much they would impact all our lives.

My first computer: A Commodore 64
I loved my Commodore 64. I used it for computer games and for programming a simple game. This was my first passion project. Unfortunately I lost the code to the game and was so despondent, I gave up programming. A pity because I think I would have been well suited to it.

Playing computer games as a child
Another of my favourite things to do as a child was to play computer games. I spent many hours doing this, first with our Atari Consul and then my Commodore 64 computer.
