Poem from Gramps to Gran on their 58th wedding anniversary

MEMORIES ON YOUR 58TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

At eighteen I fell for a girl

Who was PRETTY, LOVING and SWEET

She caused my heart to twist and twirl

And more than once – to miss a beat.At twenty-one I took my chance

I did not hesitate or tarry

But, kneeling on my bended knee

I asked my love if we might marry.

When she said “YES”, I nearly died

My cup of joy just overflowed

My sheer delight I could not hide

And on my face sheer rapture glowed.

Now we are old, much time has passed

But love has lasted through the years

Which proves that if your heart’s STEADFAST

True love will triumph – have no fears.
