The Callan Park Hospital for the Insane was the first purpose-built hospital for mental treatment in Australia. It was constructed between 1880 and 1884, and received its first patients in October 1884. I went there with Susan and James to take a look around and see if we could sign ourselves in. It's situated on a beautiful piece of land by the water but we didn't stay too long as the light wasn't great and the photogenic bits were locked up.
